Furniture

Wood: balsa, while waiting to pass to the obeche wood
and cut with hobby knife.

Left : 1/12 scale balsa secretary.

Below : 1/12 scale chest of drawer made of balsa, model of the french book "Miniatures, scènes de la vie". I made only one true drawer.

I progressed well in furniture, but I don't make yet doors with hinges.
I don't use much more tools, just a hobby knife, but forums and some books helps me.
- I use a Lego angle to maintain right the parts to be stuck.
- Dye the 2 faces of the wood to prevent it to curve, and before gluing.
- Replace varnish by wood dye or wax dye

obeche wood : finally TRUE wood
but difficult to cut with x-acto knife in 2 mm .

My first dresser, at 1/15 scale, in obeche wood tinted wild cherry tree
(blank doors and false drawers).

With a layer of waxing dyeing moreover, a little too dark.

Crate wood :

Interesting, gives a very great freedom for a roombox with many pieces of furniture, because one is not limited any more by the price and the number of small planks to buy in a specialized store.

Upholstered armchair (model of "Doll's house furniture")

Back and plywood out 3 mm crate wood and sites out of 4mm balsa to be able to form the round-off.
